A Resolution Regarding the Use of CGS Funds for Meeting Refreshments

WHEREAS the original purpose of refreshments at CGS meetings (the general assembly, executive committee, and other meetings) was to encourage attendance; and
WHEREAS it is not clear that this goal has been achieved or if it is worth the allotted $1,500; and
WHEREAS charitable donations or allocations for service projects do not currently occupy a Council budget line; and
WHEREAS members of the Council of Graduate Students could forego refreshments at meetings to make better use of the money,
LET IT THEREFORE BE RESOLVED that the matching funds program enacted by resolution 0102-AU-010 be funded by:
- Taking the total amount to be donated and calculating its percentage of $1500.
- Reducing the budget line for Refreshments by that percentage of $600.
- Reducing the budget lines of all other outflow categories save Cash Reserves by that percentage of $60.
