A Resolution Concerning the University of Michigan Admissions Cases

WHEREAS The Ohio State University and the Council of Graduate Students support diversity; and
WHEREAS all students benefit from studying in an environment composed of unique individuals; and
WHEREAS diversity in admissions in higher education is a compelling interest for public and private institutions of higher education; and
WHEREAS using diversity as a factor in admissions decisions is not indicative of a quota system,
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Council of Graduate Students supports the University's position on the University of Michigan Admissions Cases; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of Graduate Students does not support racial or ethnic quotas for admissions to the Univeristy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of Graduate Students supports the use of diversity in The Ohio State University's admissions decisions.
