A Resolution Supporting "Cover the Uninsured Week"

WHEREAS 41 million Americans do not have access to health care coverage; and

WHEREAS 1.5 million Ohioans do not have access to health care coverage; and

WHEREAS 130,000 residents of Franklin County do not have access to health care coverage; and

WHEREAS eight out of ten of the uninsured are in working families that cannot afford health insurance and are not eligible for public programs; and

WHEREAS uninsured Americans live sicker and die younger because they are forced to go without the health care they need; and

WHEREAS a slow economy, higher unemployment and rising health care costs mean that more Americans are becoming uninsured in our community,

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Council of Graduate Students recognizes the urgency of seeking solutions to one of Ohio's greatest problems; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of Graduate Students supports the efforts of "Cover the Uninsured Week" at The Ohio State University.
