A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING UNIVERSITY COVERAGE OF FEES FOR GRADUATE ASSOCIATES

WHEREAS the University is trying to attract and retain the highest calibre of graduate students; and
WHEREAS part of the attraction of a university lies in the benefits package offered to incoming and current graduate students; and
WHEREAS the G-QUE recommends the enhancement of graduate student use of campus facilities such as Larkins Hall and the Ohio Union; and
WHEREAS enrichment fees can benefit and encourage graduate students to utilize these facilities; and
WHEREAS possible fees such as the Larkins fee, a student activity fee, an Ohio Union fee, etc. are expected to be paid by all graduate students; and
WHEREAS such fees are not covered in the current graduate associate benefits package; and
WHEREAS these combined fees are estimated to cost $560 per year out-of-pocket; and
WHEREAS the G-QUE advocates alleviating the financial burden of graduate students,
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Council of Graduate Students advocate at all levels of the University administration to have these fees included in the GA benefit package.
