An Act Amending the Constitution to Include Gender Identity in the Nondiscrimination Clause

Section 1. The purpose of this act is to amend the Council’s constitution to include gender identity in the nondiscrimination clause. This amendment is presented in accordance with Article XII of the CGS Constitution.

Section 2. In May 2002, the Council passed a resolution (0102-SP-027) supporting the inclusion of gender identity in the University's nondiscrimination clause.

Section 3. In order to root our principles of equality firmly in the CGS Constitution, it shall be amended as follows:

Article IV - Membership and Eligibility

Section IV.3: No student shall be denied membership in this organization on the basis of race, sex, color, national origin, religion, age, political views, Vietnam-era veteran status, sexual orientation, or disability, or gender identity.

Section 4. These changes shall take effect immediately upon approval per Article XII of the CGS Constitution.
